Manchester United “leading the way” in race for Ajax’s Brian Brobbey ahead of next summer | OneFootball

Manchester United are reportedly eyeing a move for Ajax striker Brian Brobbey during next summer’s transfer window.

Brobbey has been linked to United on multiple occasions since Erik ten Hag’s arrival at the club in 2022, but a move has never materialised.

A report covered by The Peoples Person earlier in the summer relayed that the Netherlands international was put up for sale by Ajax. However, United turned their attention elsewhere and elected to sign Joshua Zirkzee from Bologna instead.

Fichajes now reveal that Brobbey is on the Red Devils’ radar once again and this time, the club will face competition to land the 22-year-old.

According to the newspaper, “Ajax Amsterdam striker Brian Brobbey has attracted the attention of several top clubs in Europe, with Manchester United leading the way. ”

“His name has started to ring loudly in the offices of clubs looking to strengthen their attack. His ability to finish in the area and create play from advanced positions has made him one of the most coveted prospects on the continent.”

“Ajax are not willing to let one of their attacking pillars go easily. The Dutch side, aware of Brobbey’s talent and potential, would demand a fee close to 40 million euros to release the striker, a price that could be seen as a safe bet by those looking for a young and growing goalscorer.”

It’s understood that Ajax will only sanction a sale for Brobbey if the offer is right.

Fichajes note that the next few weeks will be crucial in determining Brobbey’s future.

Brobbey is currently in his second spell with Ajax.

He has represented the Eredivisie giants on 125 occasions across all competitions, scoring 50 goals and providing 19 assists in the process.

The goalscorer came through the ranks at Ajax and earned promotion to the first team in 2020. An unsuccessful loan stint at RB Leipzig followed before returning to Ajax, where he has since revived his career.
