Manchester United appear to be speeding towards a deal for star Premier League striker Matheus Cunha this summer.

The Wolverhampton Wanderers striker has been a revelation this season, with Man United firmly setting their sights on him as a transfer target.

In fact, it was reported that United are set to meet with Cunha to discuss personal terms.

Still, this doesn’t mean that Cunha’s transfer to United will be smooth sailing. The Peoples Person acknowledged that Arsenal are reportedly looking to hijack the deal, potentially putting a large spanner in the works.

This morning, CaughtOffside released a crucial update on United’s tussle with Arsenal for the Brazilian, revealing just how close Ruben Amorim’s side is to securing what would be a blockbuster deal.

“Manchester United are closer to a verbal agreement with Wolves forward Matheus Cunha after offering him a big-money contract, sources have informed CaughtOffside,” the report read.

“The Brazil international has also attracted strong interest from Arsenal in recent times, with the Gunners’ new sporting director Andrea Berta understood to be a big fan of the player.”

“However, things now look to be progressing well with Man Utd, who have offered Cunha a contract on double the wages he currently earns at Wolves,” the report continued, suggesting that United are pulling out all the stops to bring the Brazilian to Old Trafford.

“CaughtOffside understands that the Red Devils are close to a verbal agreement on personal terms, with Cunha keen on the move to Old Trafford.”

“This looks like bad news for Arsenal, as well as other interested clubs such as Liverpool, Newcastle United and Nottingham Forest,” the report concluded.

Cunha has been a constant goalscoring threat for Wolves this season, averaging 3.3 shots per game while scoring an impressive 15 goals in 29 appearances.

This is in stark contrast to Rasmus Hojlund, who has scored only four goals in 29 Premier League games while averaging just 0.9 shots.

Following United’s emphatic 3-0 win over Athletic Club, this positive transfer update gives fans even more reason to be hopeful as the club looks to continue its rebuilding process.
