Manchester United head coach Marc Skinner has signed a new one-year contract with the club with the option of an additional year.

The Red Devils announced the news via a post on their official club website this morning.

Skinner became the second head coach of Manchester United’s professional women’s team in summer 2021. He guided The Red Devils to a fourth-place finish in his first season in charge. Last season saw Manchester United end the campaign as league runners-up while they contested a first major domestic cup final in the Adobe Women’s FA Cup. This season has seen the club struggle to reach the same heights in the Barclays Women’s Super League but they did win a first major trophy last weekend when they defeated Tottenham Hotspur 4-0 in the Adobe Women’s FA Cup final at Wembley.

Manchester United must kick on in 2024/2025 and the club have opted for continuity with head coach Skinner now onboard for another year.

After signing his new deal, Skinner said “It’s an honour to extend my stay at Manchester United. I’ve always felt at home here, with our excellent players, staff, and fans.

“Being able to secure the team’s first major trophy at Wembley was a real career highlight for me and another sign of our continued growth, on and off the field.

“Thanks to everyone who has supported me on this journey, and I look forward to creating many more winning memories together.”

Manchester United end the 2023/2024 season with a fixture against Chelsea at Old Trafford tomorrow afternoon.
