In a recent post on X, Calciomercato journalist Daniele Longo stated that Manchester United are inching closer to signing Valencia midfielder Javi Guerra. It has been mentioned that the Spanish midfield ace is close to joining the Red Devils in this summer transfer window.

Guerra’s Decent Numbers In Spanish Football Last Season

Guerra had an impressive campaign at the Spanish club after he produced a handful of eye-catching performances at the centre of the park. The Spanish sensation registered three goals and grabbed three assists in 38 matches for Valencia last season in all competitions.

The 22-year-old proved his worth at times in the final third as he averaged 1.64 shots per 90 minutes in La Liga. However, he kept only 21.3% of his attempts on target. Guerra was accurate with his ball distribution based on his pass success rate of 77.9% in the Spanish top tier (stats via fbref.com).

His current contract at the Spanish club will run out in the summer of 2027. Therefore, Man United would have to make a convincing offer if they want to lure Guerra to Old Trafford this off-season.

Is Guerra A Decent Signing For Manchester United Boss Ruben Amorim?

Guerra is a solid tackler of the ball and can read the danger well to secure the ball back for his team inside his half. He usually puts his foot through the ball when needed and has got a good passing range.

Guerra is primarily a box-to-box midfielder but can also operate as a defensive midfielder or as an attacking midfielder if required. However, the Spaniard needs to focus on hitting the target more often with his shot attempts from long range. Furthermore, there are some question marks over whether Guerra would be able to cope with the high intensity of the Premier League if the Red Devils manage to sign him this summer.

We can expect Guerra to add more firepower to Man United boss Ruben Amorim’s midfield department. He is good enough to challenge for a regular first-team place at Old Trafford in the coming seasons.

At 22, Guerra has the potential to be a world-class player someday. Thus, he would be an excellent signing for the Red Devils to pursue in this summer transfer period.
