As the transfer deadline looms, Manuel Ugarte’s move to Manchester United could occur in the next few hours. Sky Sports’ Dharmesh Sheth reports an agreement in principle between the Red Devils and Paris Saint-Germain.

Journalist Ben Jacobs recently reported that Manchester United club chief Jean-Claude Blanc is leveraging his connections with PSG to assist Dan Ashworth and the recruitment team secure a deal for Ugarte.

As a result, his efforts could have tilted the file and helped the two clubs reach a common ground regarding the player. Following weeks of rumors, the Uruguayan appears to have nearly two feet at Old Trafford.

Sheth reports that Manchester United and PSG have reached an agreement in principle on Ugarte’s transfer, with the deal estimated at around £50 million. Discussions are still underway to finalize the payment structure and performance-related add-ons.

Ugarte made 37 appearances across all competitions for the reigning Ligue 1 champions last season, recording three assists.

The PSG midfielder began the first half of the campaign playing well, but his minutes fell off in the second half as he was used more as a rotational player rather than a starter.

He’ll now look to have a bounce-back 2024-25 season under manager Erik ten Hag as Manchester United look to at least contend for a top-four Premier League finish.
