Manchester City take on Juventus tonight in Turin in a crucial UEFA Champions League league phase fixture. Tonight’s match almost looms as a must-win game for Pep Guardiola’s side. If they want to secure a top-eight finish, they must somehow find a way to pick up all three points against Thiago Motta’s side. But that will be no easy task against a tough and stout Juventus outfit. Here is the latest City injury news and the predicted City starting eleven ahead of tonight’s massive match.
There was welcome news for the world champions yesterday with Phil Foden and Mateo Kovacic returning to training yesterday. That was a welcome sight for Pep Guardiola’s side given their recent injury issues. But Guardiola did tell the media yesterday that it is unlikely that the pair will start or feature against Juventus.
Manchester City will enter tonight’s match without five players. Rodri, Oscar Bobb, John Stones, Nathan Ake and Manuel Akanji will all miss tonight’s match due to injury. City’s defensive stocks are depleted so that is another obstacle they must overcome tonight.
Ederson- I believe Ederson will start in goal tonight. Stefan Ortega hasn’t done anything wrong in his past three starts but tonight’s match could be the ideal setting for Ederson to start.
Kyle Walker- Due to City’s injury issues Walker is likely to start tonight. It’s time for him to step up and be the player he has always been in a tough match that awaits Manchester City.
Ruben Dias- City’s defensive leader will have a vital role to play tonight. If he plays like he did against Crystal Palace he may inspire his team.
Josko Gvardiol- I expect the Croatian international to start alongside Dias. A good performance from Gvardiol could help City pick up a huge victory.
Rico Lewis- Lewis is almost a guaranteed starter tonight. City’s lack of options should see him start at left-back.
Ilkay Gundogan- Gundogan played well against Palace and looks to have turned a corner. He should start tonight.
Jack Grealish- Provided that Grealish is fully fit I expect him to start in midfield. Manchester City need control back in their game and Grealish always brings that.
Kevin De Bruyne- The City legend is working his way back to full fitness. If he is at his best he could decide tonight’s match.
Bernardo Silva- I expect Bernardo to start on the right wing to give Pep Guardiola the control he craves of the match.
Jeremy Doku- Doku could have a big role to play tonight. He starred against Nottingham Forest and does look in good form if he’s fit enough to start he could offer a potent threat to the Juventus defence.
Erling Haaland- Manchester City have to rely on Haaland tonight. He scored against Crystal Palace tonight and if he fires tonight he could inspire his team.
