Etihad Stadium transfer bosses will have to break Wolves’ record transfer fee for a player sale for the second successive summer, should they wish to sign Pedro Neto.

It could be the second successive summer that Manchester City record a signing from Molineux, following on from the signing of Matheus Nunes during the closing stages of the last summer transfer window.

That is according to the information of The Telegraph’s John Percy, who reveals that Wolves are ready to demand a club record transfer fee of £60 million for Pedro Neto this summer, with the Portuguese winger a summer target for Manchester City and Newcastle United.

Despite the forward’s season disrupted by two separate hamstring injuries, Wolves reportedly believe that his value remains ‘very high’ and will demand a fee that reflects his ability, with City described as ‘long-term admirers’ of the 24-year-old.

While Newcastle have been credited with an interest in the forward, the report clarifies that there are concerns from within Eddie Howe’s club over Neto’s recent injury record, which could open up a clearer pathway for the Premier League champions.

Manchester City recruited in the wide roles last summer too, with Jeremy Doku joining the Etihad project from Stade Rennes and adding a very different dimension to Pep Guardiola’s attacking options.

However, with Phil Foden likely to move more into attacking midfield and uncertainty shrouding the future of Bernardo Silva, City officials are likely to be open to the idea of a new wide attacking forward.

Silva is likely to be once again open to the idea of a Manchester City exit, with a £50 million release clause becoming active this summer, and Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain interested in his signature.
