Manchester City prepare €40 million offer for Palmeiras teenager Vitor Reis | OneFootball

Premier League champions Manchester City are working around the clock to conduct transfer business this month, with their latest search taking them to Brazil.

Etihad Stadium bosses are simultaneously working on a number of deals as part of a reported rebuild that is expected to take place across the course of the two transfer markets in 2025, with business beginning at the earliest opportunity.

In the ongoing January market, the profile of Eintracht Frankfurt forward Omar Marmoush is understood to be Manchester City’s primary target with the intention being to strengthen their attacking options and secure a strong second-half to the season.

Work conducted around a deal with the German club is accompanied by Manchester City’s pursuit of defensive talent too, as the top-flight champions target Lens and Uzbekistan starlet, Abdukodir Khusanov.

The total outlay of both players would still likely sit well below the £100 million barrier, but new reports emerging from South America have drawn attention to another piece of business being conducted in Brazil by Etihad officials which would break the aforementioned sum.

That is according to the information of UOL Esporte in Brazil, who report that Manchester City are now working to make a ‘tempting proposal’ official for Palmeiras defender, Vitor Reis in the next few hours worth around €40 million with the possibility of bonuses.

It is claimed that the Premier League champions are ‘in a hurry’ to seal a deal for the 18-year-old, who has recently been a target for other clubs in England, including Brighton & Hove Albion.

Behind-the-scenes, UOL are reporting that Reis was being valued by Palmeiras at above €30 million, with the teenager currently contracted with the Brazilian giants until December, 2028.

Additional reporting from UOL journalist Andre Hernan has also confirmed that Manchester City have reached a verbal agreement over a move to the Etihad Stadium with the player himself, and that the negotiation is now between the two clubs.

Despite his young age and relatively fresh standing within the Palmeiras set-up, Reis has already gained a wealth of early experience within the club’s senior side, amassing 22 first-team appearances to date scoring twice across his 1,817 minutes of action.

The teenager only signed his first professional contract with Palmeiras towards the end of the 2022 season, and was named by English newspaper The Guardian as one of the best players born in 2006 across the globe, alongside the likes of Real Madrid’s Endrick.

For now, it remains to be seen what Manchester City have lined up for the player in terms of a development path, or whether he will be integrated directly into the club’s first-team set-up upon the deal being completed between all parties.
