Savinho’s potential departure would leave Pep Guardiola looking to add quality depth in wide areas before the transfer window closes.

City have already contacted Simons’ representative, Ali Barat, to explore the possibility of bringing him to the Etihad.

Chelsea interest remains strong

Chelsea are also keen on signing Simons. They have been holding talks with Leipzig in an effort to secure his services.

The Netherlands international enjoyed a standout campaign last season. He recorded 11 goals and eight assists in all competitions for the Bundesliga side.

Simons, who previously played for Paris Saint-Germain, has emerged as one of Leipzig’s most valuable assets in recent seasons.

His ability to play in multiple roles across the attack adds to his appeal for top clubs in England and Europe.

Simons can operate effectively as an attacking midfielder, on the left flank, or even in a deeper creative role when required.

He is known for his quick footwork, sharp dribbling and ability to manoeuvre in tight spaces under pressure from defenders.

The 21-year-old is comfortable receiving the ball between the lines and has the vision to deliver passes that open up defences.

His agility and pace allow him to switch positions seamlessly, making him a constant threat whether cutting inside or stretching the play wide.

Simons is also a committed team player, pressing with intensity and contributing defensively when his side are out of possession.

His mix of technical quality, work rate and adaptability would be a shrewd addition to Man City’s squad.
