Julian Alvarez could become the biggest name to leave Manchester City this summer, a club insider has revealed amid ongoing interest from Atletico Madrid.

The 24-year-old versatile forward first opened himself up to the idea of leaving the Premier League champions towards the end of last season, with various reports indicating a desire to secure more consistent game-time as the leading striker for a top European club.

Despite having played an integral role for Manchester City last season, with Pep Guardiola turning towards Alvarez during the absence of Kevin De Bruyne and Erling Haaland, the Argentine found himself back on the bench when both players were fit and available.

With Julian Alvarez seemingly being open to the idea of a Manchester City exit this summer, transfer interest in the player has been intense, with Paris Saint-Germain tipped as a potential suitor, alongside Premier League rivals Chelsea.

But perhaps the most likely solution could come from the Spanish top-flight, with a new report pointing towards the feeling being taken by Julian Alvarez towards the interest of Atletico Madrid.

That is according to the information of Manchester City insider ‘Tolmie’s Hairdoo’ on X, who first reports that as things stand, Julian Alvarez could be the biggest name to leave the Etihad Stadium during the ongoing summer transfer window.

It is stated that La Liga giants Atletico Madrid are ‘really serious’ about the signing of the Argentina international, who in turn ‘does fancy it’ when it comes to the idea of a switch to the Spanish capital.

Should the Madrid club ‘get anywhere near’ an £80 million price tag, then the report states that ‘the wheels may turn quickly’, with the Spanish city ‘ticking a lot of boxes’ in terms of size, lifestyle, and wanted starts at the top of the European game.

Alvarez has remained relatively quiet on the subject of his future over the summer months, commenting only once on the matter to which he stated, “These are things that are said, but I am calm; I am comfortable and happy at Manchester City; we will see what happens.”

One report claimed earlier in the summer that Real Madrid would be his ideal move in the future, however a switch to Los Blancos remains highly unlikely this summer in particular, with the Santiago Bernabeu side investing so heavily in the likes of Kylian Mbappe.

Manchester City fans may also have to wait a while before seeing Julian Alvarez in action again for the club, should he decide to remain at the Etihad Stadium beyond this summer, with the player now jetting off to represent Argentina at the Olympics in Paris.

That outing follows another hugely successful tournament for Julian Alvarez with Argentina, as they claimed their second successive Copa America title with a win over Colombia on Sunday night.
