In a recent post on X, renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano stated that Manchester City have agreed on a long-term deal with Paris Saint-Germain keeper Gianluigi Donnarumma. It has been mentioned that the Italian goalie will have his medical at the Mancunian club on transfer deadline day.

The 26-year-old had an impressive season at the French club after he produced a lot of solid displays for them in Ligue 1. Donnarumma played in 47 matches for PSG in the previous campaign, shipping 43 goals and securing 17 clean sheets across all competitions.

The Italian custodian helped the French giants win the UEFA Champions League trophy earlier this summer. Hence, it is no wonder that Man City have decided to get him on board in this transfer window.

However, Donnarumma would need some time to adjust to the physical side and the high intensity of the Premier League after this international break.

Will Donnarumma Be A Decent Fit For Manchester City Boss Pep Guardiola?

Donnarumma is a commanding presence inside his penalty area and can use his towering 1.96m frame to dominate the opposition attackers in the air. He is a good handler of the ball and can use his quick reflexes to make a few top saves for his team.

However, the Italy international needs to improve his ball distribution if he wants to be a success story at Man City, where he will be expected to build plays from the back. Still, the pros outweigh the cons of recruiting a keeper of his quality before the end of this summer transfer period.

Donnarumma would add more quality and depth to Pep Guardiola’s match-day squad. He has what it takes to compete with James Trafford for a regular starting spot at the Etihad Stadium this season.

At 26, Donnarumma has his peak years ahead of him, which makes him a great fit for Man City’s needs in this transfer window. He might even help them compete for some major silverware in the coming years. However, as mentioned earlier, Guardiola needs to give him some time to settle into life in the Premier League.
