Following on from their 4-1 win over West Ham, Manchester City will take on Salford in their third-round FA Cup tie this weekend. Pep Guardiola’s side will be looking to continue their good recent results after back-to-back wins in the Premier League. They could be boosted by the return of several players from injury for this weekend’s match at the Etihad Stadium.

Rodri, Oscar Bobb, Ederson, Ruben Dias and John Stones all missed City’s win over West Ham. Matheus Nunes returned to the bench for Manchester City’s win at the Etihad Stadium. While it is a given that Rodri and Oscar Bobb will miss the FA Cup tie against Salford, Ederson and Ruben Dias could return to Pep Guardiola’s squad at the Etihad.

Pep Guardiola told the media last week that Ederson had returned to training before his team’s win over West Ham. If the Brazilian keeper can get through training this week, it would be safe to assume he could feature against Salford. Guardiola also told the media that Ruben Dias was on the comeback trail from injury. It remains to be seen if he will be fit enough to play this weekend. But he is nearing a return from injury. Matheus Nunes returned to City’s squad last weekend and he should be in line to play against Salford.

There has yet to be an update on the condition of John Stones. It remains unclear just how long the England international will be out with his current injury. The hope is that there will be an update from Pep Guardiola later this week on the condition of John Stones.

Manchester City do appear to be getting players back ahead of their FA Cup tie against Salford. That is welcome news for Pep Guardiola’s side after the injury issues they have dealt with of late.
