In a recent report, Sport (via Sport Witness) mentioned that Manchester City are among the clubs hoping to sign Bayern Munich ace Joshua Kimmich. It has been stated that the Mancunian club would have to rival Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain in the race to land the German talent this summer.

Kimmich is having a decent campaign at the Bavarian club after he put in a series of impressive displays for them in the Bundesliga. The 29-year-old has scored two goals and grabbed ten assists in 39 appearances for Bayern this season across various competitions.

The German talent has been a good performer in both halves as he is averaging 1.5 tackles, 0.5 interceptions, 0.8 clearances, 0.9 shots and 2.8 key passes per game in the Bundesliga. He has even been careful when distributing the ball after completing 91.4% of his attempted passes in the German top tier (stats via whoscored).

His current contract at the German club will run out in the summer of 2025 which could open the door for Man City to sign him on the cheap in the upcoming transfer period.

Should Manchester City Boss Pep Guardiola Go For Kimmich?

Kimmich is a solid tackler of the ball and can make the odd interception for his team inside his half. He doesn’t mind clearing the danger when needed and can strike the ball with power from long range. The German sensation can even create some inviting chances for his teammates in the opposition half. He mainly plays as a right-back but can also function as a defensive midfielder or as a box-to-box midfielder if needed.

We can expect Kimmich to add more quality to Man City boss Pep Guardiola’s first team. He has what it takes to help the Mancunian giants challenge for some major trophies in the coming years. Therefore, it makes sense for Man City to go for Kimmich at the end of this campaign.

At 29, Kimmich is still playing in his prime and is good enough to nail down a regular starting spot at the Etihad Stadium. Therefore, Man City would be wise to get a deal done for him when the transfer window commences later this year.
