Having earned promotion back to the Premier League after the turn of the century, City consolidated in the top-flight before notable investment changed the club’s fortunes. Since then, the Manchester side have won eight of the previous 13 editions of the competition.

Last season:

Few would have predicted a third-place finish for Pep Guardiola’s team last campaign, after the Spaniard had guided them to four previous successive titles. City were runners up in the FA Cup, losing out to Crystal Palace in the final at Wembley.

One to watch:

In just 97 Premier League matches, formidable striker Erling Haaland has netted a scintillating 85 goals. Last term, 22 of the Norwegian’s tally of 31 came in the Premier League, alongside eight in the UEFA Champions League and one in the FA Cup.
