Brendan Rodgers was overjoyed with the Celts’ performance against Ross County at Celtic Park today, with the Bhoys giving their boss so many reasons to be cheerful.

A blistering 45 minutes in the first half from the champions blew Ross County away, and with a five-goal lead at half time, there was no way back for the visitors.

Brendan Rodgers’ men now sit five points clear at the top of the SPFL table, and speaking to Celtic TV after today’s five-star performance, Brendan hailed his side for the way they approached the game.

“It was a complete performance,” he said. “I thought in the first half our pressing and counter-pressing was so good, a few of our goals come from that.

“The speed of our game was at a really high level. So was the structure in the team and the hunger and greed to want the ball.

“Second half was a similar performance, but you’ve got to give credit to Ross County because we could have another few goals.

“But overall, an absolutely brilliant team performance. It was a joy to watch.”

The Hoops’ five goals this afternoon came from five different scorers, highlighting the sheer quality across the Celtic squad.

It was a different story when it came to assists, however, with Luke McCowan providing three of the goals as well as scoring one of his own and getting involved in the build-up of another.

The midfielder, who lit Paradise up today, was rightly named as Man of the Match, also drew praise from his boss for his excellent performance.

Brendan added: “He’s now really settling in to being a Celtic player.

“He’s maybe unlucky to not have started more games but whenever he’s been asked to come in, he’s performed.

“Both he and Paulo Bernardo I thought were outstanding today.

“They created goals, scored goals, pressed the game and their overall quality was outstanding.”
