Manchester United could be active as the clock ticks down to the winter transfer window deadline day

They are waiting in the wings for Juventus midfielder Douglas Luiz and watching Chelsea left wing-back Ben Chilwell, according to the Daily Mail.

The Red Devils will be racing to do business as they look to strengthen their squads for the final months of the season. Manager Ruben Amorim wants to strengthen in midfield and on the left wing.

Luiz is on the radar of Manchester City, who are keen on a loan deal, while Chelsea, Fulham and Nottingham Forest have also been credited with an interest in the 26-year-old.

A return to the Premier League could appeal to the former Aston Villa star after he ended last term with nine league goals and five assists, and Man United could offer him that chance.

The Old Trafford club could lose Casemiro to the Saudi Pro League, and Luiz would be the perfect replacement.

However, they are not favourites to sign him, and a move to Man City could be more appealing to the Brazilian, given United’s current struggles.

Chilwell could be open to joining Man United as he is eyeing a late loan exit from the Stamford Bridge club, with a Premier League move favoured over Borussia Dortmund.

The 28-year-old 2020-21 Champions League winner is also on the radar of West Ham United, Crystal Palace and Everton, but his style of play fits the profile Amorim wants in a left wing-back, and a temporary deal could work out for both clubs.

With Alejandro Garnacho expected to leave, the Red Devils need another option on the left wing, and Chilwell has proven his defensive and attacking qualities when fully fit.

Man United need quality reinforcements before the transfer window closes on February 3 to boost their chances of finishing the campaign strongly, and signing Luiz and Chilwell could be huge.
