Versatile defender Noussair Mazraoui is internally regarded at Manchester United as one of their strongest signings in recent years, according to Sky Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg.

The Red Devils board and the coaching staff have been extremely satisfied with the 27-year-old’s performances since he joined the club from Bayern Munich last summer.

Man United spent an initial €15 million plus €5m in add-ons to sign Mazraoui, handing him a four-year deal with the option of an additional 12 months.

He has featured in 19 games across all competitions, weighing in with two assists.

He lined up in both full-back positions under former manager Erik ten Hag and at the right of a back-three in the two matches new boss Ruben Amorim has overseen.

His versatility has come in handy as Ten Hag also deployed him as an attacking midfielder once, and Man United need more players like him in their ranks.

Given their recent injury struggles at the back, signing Mazraoui has proven to be a smart decision, and the board and coaches have been blown away.

Man United have largely performed underwhelmingly in the transfer market since 2013, with only a few signings proving to be perfect for their squad and impressing.

The Morocco international has continued to catch the eye with his performances, and the fans have since fallen in love with his dedication and character.

Amorim will have a say on transfers going forward, and he will be hoping to get quality players that fit into his style and the Premier League.

His success with the Red Devils will depend on the type of recruitment done in the coming transfer windows, and the Portuguese will need to take his time before taking a punt on any player.
