Manchester United are planning a major summer overhaul as part of a new transfer strategy focused on revitalizing their misfiring attack, according to Manchester Evening News. The Red Devils are reportedly prepared to part ways with Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho, and Antony to fund moves for Matheus Cunha and Liam Delap, two forwards seen as long-term solutions.

United have struggled for goals this season, managing just 38 in 33 Premier League matches. That tally places them among the lowest-scoring teams in the top division. With a negative goal difference of -8, strengthening the frontline has become a top priority.

Matheus Cunha has emerged as a key target. The 25-year-old Brazilian has netted 14 league goals for Wolves this season and is reportedly open to a move to Old Trafford. Cunha recently signed a new contract featuring a £62.5 million release clause, and with his current wage at £90,000 per week, Manchester United are said to be willing to double his salary to secure his services.

Alongside Cunha, United are also targeting Liam Delap who has scored 12 league goals this season. The 22-year-old striker could be available for £30 million if Ipswich Town face relegation. Delap fits the club's new emphasis on recruiting young, hungry talent, a policy being driven by recently appointed CEO Omar Berrada.

To facilitate the combined £92.5 million investment, United is ready to sell Rashford, Sancho, and Antony. All three players are currently out on loan, and the club no longer considers them integral to its future under manager Rúben Amorim. Sancho, who is currently at Chelsea, could return if the Blues pay a fee to avoid triggering their obligation to buy. With his contract running until 2026, this summer may be United’s final opportunity to secure a profit.

Antony, meanwhile, has impressed on loan at Real Betis. His form in La Liga could attract further interest, potentially allowing United to recoup a large portion of the £81.3 million fee paid in 2022. Reports suggest United must generate at least £32.52 million from his sale to avoid a loss under the Premier League’s profitability and sustainability rules.

This new approach mirrors United’s structured deal for Joshua Zirkzee last summer, who arrived for £36.5 million. The club could employ a similar financial model again as it pushes to secure Champions League football.

With top clubs like Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea, Newcastle, and Aston Villa also in the mix for these talents, Manchester United will need to act decisively in what could be one of the club’s most pivotal transfer windows in recent years.
