Manchester United have made five new appointments to their nutritional department, ahead of the upcoming 2025/26 season.

United undergoing a radical overhaul of backroom staff

Since Sir Jim Ratcliffe completed his partial investment in United and became co-owner alongside the Glazer family, he has been on a mission to ensure the Red Devils have the best-in-class personnel across all levels.

Much of the focus has been on United’s footballing structure but Ratcliffe’s radical overhaul has extended far beyond that.

Significant changes have also been made by the INEOS billionaire across the medical team, recruitment, scouting, and other areas, which have all felt the effects of extensive staff cuts and layoffs.

Last month, a report covered by The Peoples Person relayed that United had succeeded in their efforts to poach Will Carvalho from rival Premier League Brighton and Hove Albion.

It was stated that Carvalho would start work at the start of July, as United’s new head performance chef for the men’s first team.

Now, the Manchester Evening News reports that Carvalho’s arrival has been followed up by the appointments of four other professionals, in what is now a new-look nutritional department at Old Trafford.

United revamp nutritional department

According to the newspaper, “The department is now essentially brand new after the appointments of Will Carvalho (head performance chef), Marcus Hannon (head of sports nutrition) and Filipe Sousa (first-team nutritionist).”

“Furthermore, United are in the process of hiring a senior sous chef and an academy nutritionist.”

“Hanna Zouggari (women’s first-team nutritionist) and Rachel Fleck (women’s academy performance nutritionist) have also been appointed.”

Hannon joins the Red Devils from Qatar’s Football Association, but she has Premier League experience from a previous stint at Aston Villa.

Meanwhile, Sousa has worked at Portuguese clubs Vitoria Sport Clube, F.C. Famalicao and FC Vizela.
