Manchester United are interested in signing Nottingham Forest midfielder Danilo in the summer.

The Red Devils have had massive issues all season as the midfield has been overran by teams from all walks of life.

Fans at Old Trafford have had to get used to the uncomfortable sight of a massive chasm appearing between the defence and middle of the park on numerous occasions throughout the season.

INEOS have made it clear they want to rid the club of expensive contracts like Casemiro, while Sofyan Amrabat will also almost certainly depart Manchester this summer.

Consequently, United have been linked to midfielders like Joao Neves, Andre and Youssouf Fofana to re-energise the midfield department alongside top talents they already possess like Kobbie Mainoo.

Another name to come up in the rumour mill is that of Forest’s Brazilian midfielder Danilo.

He relocated to Nottingham in January 2023 and has adapted very well to life in the Premier League.

The 22 year old has played 30 times this season, scoring three times and creating one goal.

HITC report that the midfielder is of interest to Premier League clubs like Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur.

However, the website also reveals, “Danilo…is also on the radar of Manchester United – who may be looking at the Brazilian to replace compatriot Casemiro”.

Danilo has been described as “a modern-day defensive midfielder who is as impressive on the ball as he is off it. Due to his tall frame, it is rare that Danilo opts to go to ground, preferring to try to retrieve possession in difficult situations”.

“He possesses an impressive passing range, consistently able to pick out forward runs by teammates from the base of the midfield with sweeping diagonal switches of play. Despite his size, Danilo is surprisingly agile and is often able to dribble and turn out of trouble in a congested midfield”.

United will certainly be scouting a lot of options this summer with a new recruitment team in place, so it is probably too early to know for sure who they will target this upcoming window.

However the 22 year old does fit INEOS’ mould of young players who are Premier League proven and hungry to take the next step in their career, such as other well-discussed targets like Michael Olise and Jarrad Branthwaite.
