Manchester United are reportedly one of three Premier League clubs that are in contact with the representatives of Lille striker Jonathan David over a free move in the summer.

David has cemented his reputation as one of the most deadly strikers in Europe during his time with Lille, scoring 107 goals in 224 appearances across all competitions.

Last term, David netted 26 goals in 47 matches, including 19 in Ligue 1, to help Les Douges secure Champions League football via the playoffs.

So far this term, the Canadian has managed an impressive tally of 23 goals and 10 assists in 41 matches. His contract with Lille expires in the summer and the player himself made it clear he has no intention of renewing it as he wants to make the step-up to a bigger club.

In addition to United, Barcelona and West Ham have also strongly been linked to David. However, he has more admirers both from England and abroad.

Now, French news outlet le10sport reveals that three Premier League teams are “trying to seize” the opportunity to land a talisman of David’s class on a free.

“To date, the player’s representatives are in concrete talks with three clubs. According to our sources, Arsenal, Tottenham, and Manchester United are at the table.”

“While many other teams, both in France and abroad, have expressed interest, only these three clubs are currently in active and concrete negotiations to sign Jonathan David.”

It was recently stated that David prefers a switch to La Liga.

le10sport dispute this argument, relaying that the 25-year-old is “clearly leaning towards a move to England.”

But, a final decision has yet to be made and whichever team presents him with the best sporting project and financial package will ultimately win the race for his signature.

In Germany, Borussia Dortmund are understood to be “trying to make a breakthrough” but United, Tottenham and Arsenal are more advanced in their respective pursuits.
