Manchester City youngster Vitor Reis has requested a loan move in a bid to secure more playing time and boost his chances of earning a call-up to the Brazilian national team, according to Brazilian journalist André Hernan.

Reis, a 19-year-old defender who joined City from Palmeiras in January, is understood to have attracted concrete loan offers from Portuguese giants FC Porto and German club Bayer Leverkusen. Both clubs are keen to offer the highly rated prospect regular first-team football.

Despite the interest from abroad, Manchester City are said to consider Reis a part of their long-term plans. Talks between the player and the club are ongoing, and Hernan reports that an agreement over a temporary move is expected to be reached soon.

The teenager made the switch from Palmeiras to City with high expectations, but with fierce competition for places under Pep Guardiola, opportunities in the senior side have been limited. Sources close to the player suggest he is keen to develop further in a competitive environment and believes a loan spell could accelerate both his club and international ambitions.

While some Brazilian fans have questioned the wisdom of young players joining elite European clubs too early in their careers, there is still a belief that the right loan move could reignite Reis’s trajectory.

Reis has so far made just four appearances for Manchester City’s first team but remains highly regarded at the club. The upcoming move could prove pivotal in determining whether he can fulfil his early promise and break into both Guardiola’s squad and the Brazil setup.
