Manchester City chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak says the club want to get their summer business done before the start of the Club World Cup on 14 June.
City’s Club World Cup campaign gets underway on 18 June with a game against Wydad AC.
This summer’s transfer window will see open earlier than usual because of the tournament with a ten-day period between 1 June and 10 June, before closing again and re-opening on 16 June.
And the City chief says the club want to give manager Pep Guardiola new signings at the start of next month.
“I can tell you today, we have clearly identified who exactly are the targets, in what positions, and we have our clear number one option, our clear number two option,” he told the club.
“And we’ll go about our business, and it will be very clear, very swift.
“Our objective is to try to be ready with the new squad for the Club World Cup.”
Manchester City’s injury struggles and poor form prompted them to add to the squad in January with four new signing in Omar Marmoush, Abdukodir Khusanov, Vitor Reis and Nico Gonzalez.
And City’s chairman says he is happy with the business that has been done recently and is confident of building a squad ready to challenge for the Premier League once again after finishing third this campaign.
“We already started that rebuild of this team in January,” the Chairman said.
“Normally we like to do our business in the summer and only in case of emergency, a special need that comes up, do we actually go and do business in January. That’s been our MO, at least for the last seven or eight years. But this January, we had to act.
“We feel very good about these players. That’s four players in January. And that gives you an idea of what’s coming this summer because we will continue this summer with this, you know, serving the needs of the club. “
