In recent seasons, Mallorca’s right-back, Pablo Maffeo, and Real Madrid forward Vinicius Jr. have been at the centre of some of La Liga’s most intense encounters.
Their matches have been marked by tough tackles, occasional provocations, and even off-field comments, making their rivalry a prominent feature of Spanish football.
Now, ahead of their upcoming Spanish Super Cup clash, Maffeo opened up about his relationship with Vinicius.
He shared an interesting thought when asked about the possibility of a boxing match between him and Vinicius, Maffeo joked about the idea.
He expressed confidence that, in such a fictional scenario, he would easily win, knocking out Vinicius in just 10 seconds.
“It is a world apart, a fictional life, but I think it could be the most watched fight in history. I think he would win, I have no doubt, I would knock him out in 10 seconds,” he said as quoted by SPORT.
The Mallorca defender also reflected on two controversial moments involving Vinicius. There was one match where Maffeo was accused of a foul that could have led to a red card.

He admitted that one of the incidents definitely deserved a red card and that he had been fortunate not to be penalised.
“The first one is red, there is no justification, I was saved. The one from a few months ago is not red.
“The first one yes and I accept it, I still get the photo, but the second one doesn’t. I was lucky that the fourth official was next to me and saw the intensity,” he noted.
Finally, Maffeo admitted that while he doesn’t have a particular fondness for Real Madrid, he would not turn down an offer from the club.
He acknowledged that certain clubs, like Madrid, are impossible to reject. However, he laughed, adding that he doesn’t expect to receive such a call anytime soon.
“I have nothing against them, but it is just not a team I like.
“If they call me to go to Madrid? I would go, obviously, there are clubs you can’t say no to and Madrid is one of them, but they’re not going to call me (laughs).”
