With Jamal Musiala and Florian Wirtz, the German national team has two of the most promising attacking talents in world football in its ranks. Ex-Bayern striker Roy Makaay is full of praise for the two exceptional players – and explains why Musiala is currently slightly ahead of the pack.

Jamal Musiala and Florian Wirtz were among the outstanding players on the pitch in the DFB team’s 2-0 win over France. While Wirtz scored after just eight seconds to make it 1-0, Jamal Musiala set up Kai Havertz’s goal to make it 2-0. The two youngsters were constantly looking to link up with each other and hinted time and again at what German football fans can look forward to next summer.

With their strong performance, the two super talents confirmed their outstanding form of recent weeks. Musiala in particular has recently shone with nine goals in his last five Bundesliga games.

Roy Makaay raves about Wirtz and Musiala

Ahead of today’s international classic between Germany and the Netherlands, legendary striker Roy Makaay has heaped praise on the two youngsters. The ex-Bayern star went into raptures about Musiala in particular. He could „provide assists and score a lot of goals as an attacking midfielder.“

„Whether club or national team, every team would love to have such a player in their ranks. It’s quite clear to me that he’s Germany’s greatest talent. When you see how he’s played in the last two or three years: He’s getting better and better. The last few games in particular have been outstanding,“ said the 49-year-old.

That’s why Musiala is „one step ahead“

Makaay also had a few words of praise for Leverkusen star Wirtz: „Wirtz is of course also an outstanding young player, but Musiala is a tick ahead at the moment. Especially when you see what Musiala has already won,“ explained Makaay.

In general, Musiala already has more experience at the very highest level: „He is undisputed in his team at that age and shows his qualities time and time again,“ said the Dutchman.

Many FC Bayern fans would like to see Wirtz and Musiala work their magic together at the German record champions in the future. However, Wirtz’s move to Munich is complicated by the expected transfer fee of more than 100 million euros.
