Sky Germany reports that VfB Stuttgart are looking at options to help boost their attacking options as they are currently amidst an injury crisis in the position.
Deniz Undav and El Bilal Touré are both out for the rest of the year, while Jamie Leweling is also currently out injured. The three injuries have highlighted the lack of quality depth in the Stuttgart attack. At the weekend Nick Woltemade and Justin Diehl were both utilised, albeit they did play well in a 2-0 win against Bochum.
However, with Stuttgart having big ambitions, reinforcements are needed.
Lyon’s Gift Orban is currently on the club’s radar, but not a priority. The positive is that the French side needs to sell players to ease their financial situation meaning Stuttgart could get a bargain.
Another option is to bring Bayern Munich’s Mathys Tel in on loan. Tel has lacked game time at Bayern and if he is to be a potential successor to Harry Kane, he needs to develop more. It is said that the board at Stuttgart find Tel an exciting player but it is unknown whether the move would be viable financially.
Yesterday, it was reported that Hoffenehim’s Jacob Bruun Larsen is also an option as he has a history with head coach Sebastian Hoeneß.
What would help improve Stuttgart’s hand if they decide to pursue a forward in the winter is if they qualify for the playoff round of the Champions League. VfB are currently just outside of the playoff places in the new league phase and have winnable games against Red Star Belgrade, Young Boys and Slovan Bratislava on the horizon, which should secure their place in the next round.
