Lyon owner and president John Textor has sold this Sunday his 45% share of Crystal Palace FC to New York Jets owner Woody Johnson, according to L’Equipe. It had been previously reported that there was friction between Textor and Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish. The outlet understands that Textor will bank close to €200m from the sale of his share, which is good news for the flagship club of his Eagle Football portfolio, Lyon.
L’Equipe adds that Robert Wood “Woody” Johnson and Textor were in talks in the last weeks over Eagle Football’s sale of their 45% share in Crystal Palace. The completion of the sale is now subject to approval by the Premier League and the Women’s Super League. With Lyon’s Textor now firmly on his way out of Crystal Palace’s ownership, both clubs look set to compete in the Europa League. Palace’s participation was in doubt due to UEFA’s rules regarding multi-club ownership.
