When we heard that Malo Gusto had picked up a hamstring injury the other night, we couldn’t believe it.
The Lyon right back – bought by Chelsea in January but allowed to stay in Ligue 1 until the end of the season – is coming to Stamford Bridge to back up Reece James, whose injuries have crippled up two seasons running.
Surely Gusto wasn’t going to be a crock to back up a crock?
But the news on the issue we’ve had today from Lyon coach Laurent Blanc has given us some comfort.
Rather than a serious tear, the coach explained that “it’s a pain he’s been feeling for some time.”
“I don’t think it will take too long, but it has to be treated.”
We don’t love the idea of him having a chronic pain either, but he is young and these things can sort themselves out very quickly.
Let’s hope he’s back soon – we’re keen to see him in action for Lyon as a preview of what we’ll be getting next season.
