Lyon intend to appeal the DNCG’s decision to relegate them to Ligue 2 | OneFootball

After their latest meeting with the DNCG, Lyon were issued with the news that they had dreaded hearing – the club would be relegated to Ligue 2 and that they would be forced to play their football in the French second tier next season. At their previous meeting with the financial authority, OL were handed a provisional relegation, which would confirm their place in Ligue 2 if their financial situation did not improve based on the requirements specified. John Textor’s Eagle Football Group conducted various operations to raise funds in order to convince the DNCG that their financial situation had improved.

These measures include the sale of Textor’s shares in Crystal Palace and the sale of OL’s Women’s team to Michelle Kang. Despite the American businessman raising significant financial capital and sounding positive after the interview, this wasn’t enough to prevent the club from being relegated to the second tier. Les Gones will now go through the appeal procedures to try and reverse the decision.
