Due to unfairly not being selected for Scotland, McCowan enjoyed a short holiday in Dubai over the international break. He was pictured training with Celtic stars Callum McGregor, James Forrest and Stephen Welsh who were joined by ex Hoops hero Matt O’Riley. O’Riley netted his first goal for Brighton on his return from injury against Manchester City in the Seagulls’ final game prior to the Nations League fixtures.
The former Dundee midfield playmaker McCowan has made nine appearances since arriving in Glasgow’s East End on transfer deadline day in September.
Despite only starting two matches for his boyhood club, McCowan has been impressive in various sub appearances. Whether it be cementing a place in the starting lineup or becoming a game changer from the bench, McCowan’s role this season under the stewardship of Brendan Rodgers will be valuable.

Rodgers’ men return to domestic action on Saturday night with a trip versus the Jambos lying ahead. Neil Critchley’s side sit in 11th place following a dismal start to their league campaign. Only one point separates Hearts and their rivals Hibernian who linger at the bottom of the table. The threat of Hearts being placed in 12th position come Saturday night is very real.
Meanwhile, across all competitions, Celtic have been scintillating to watch since the beginning of the 2024/2025 campaign. A positive result and performance in the capital at the weekend will set the Scottish champions up nicely for their crucial Champions League encounter with Belgian title-holders Club Brugge a week today.
The games are coming thick and fast. Although McCowan is cup-tied and is unavailable to feature in Celtic’s Scottish League Cup final clash against theRangers next month, he is personally excited about the prospect of a congested fixture list looming.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Luke McCowan conveyed his enthusiasm of gearing up to face Hearts. He said, “I can’t wait! It’s a bit weird playing on a Saturday night, but it’s just a midweek game and you treat it as the quarter-to-eight kick-off, and it’ll be a loud one for sure at Tynecastle.”
“Everybody will always tell you it’s one game at a time, which of course it is, but it’s just a thing you’ve got to kind of think about. And obviously, sad for me, I’ll not even be able to make the cup final, I’ll just be watching it and cheering the boys on, but I’m sure there’ll be others to come and I’ll be involved in them.”

McCowan added, “you want to be a part of this team, you want to be playing for this club. I’ve been working as hard as I can to then take my chance when it comes and help the team out when I can.”
