Ex-Roma, Fiorentina, and Bayern Munich striker Luca Toni weighed in on who he’d like to see in the Champions League and Europa League finals before commenting on the upcoming Euro 2024.

Speaking from Barcelona at the EA7 World Legends Padel Tour, Toni lamented his former side drawing the Rossoneri in the quarterfinals of the competition.

“It’s shame that in the Europa League one between Roma and Milan will exit,” he told Ansa.

“I’d still like to see at least one Italian team or an all-Italian final which guarantees one would win. As for the Champions League, the mentality of Manchester City and Pep Guardiola is always to play well—plus their team is filled with champions. I also like Luis Enrique’s PSG and then Carlo Ancelotti’s Real Madrid always seem to wake up in April.”

Finally, the former attacker commented on Luciano Spalletti’s work with the Italian national team ahead of Euro 2024.

“Spalletti did something extraordinary in Napoli and now he’s trying to build something beautiful with the Azzurri,” Toni stated.

“In my opinion, it’s not easy because he’s not being helped by the players. It seems he’s encountered difficulties finding the right individuals and squad he should carry into the European championship.”
