Lazio President Claudio Lotito insists his club is on the right path after assembling a strong and cohesive squad while aiming a dig at some of his former players.

The Biancocelesti had an eventful summer replacing almost the entire old guard. Ciro Immobile, Luis Alberto, Felipe Anderson, Danilo Cataldi and Nicolo Casale all left, in addition to Daichi Kamada who saw out his contract. The club replaced them with younger profiles, such as the likes of Tijjani Noslin, Loum Tchaouna, Boulaye Dia and Fisayo Dele-Bashiru.

Therefore, in his interview with Il Messaggero (via La Lazio Siamo Noi), Lotito urges the fans to remain patient and place their trust in the club’s project.

We have built a new team with potential suited to today’s football. So be patient. We have a really strong group. We have many players called up by the national teams, but I am convinced that all the new arrivals are also of a high level.

Moreover, the Lazio patron believes the collective will play an integral role in the club’s success under Marco Baroni, and that he was happy to see the back of players who acted like prima donnas, in a subtle dig towards Luis Alberto and perhaps others.

We have put together a group with physical strength, character and technical qualities. For instance, we even allowed ourselves to rest someone like Gila as a precaution against Milan. We must not have prima donnas, but everyone must give their all with humility. There are no more presumptuous people among us, everyone is at the service of the team.
