This time last year, the Los Angeles Galaxy moved on from veteran goalkeeper Jonathan Bond. They looked within the Western Conference for his replacement.

John McCarthy joined the Galaxy and was a major part of the team's championship success. The LA Galaxy have inked a second goalie from an in-state rival in as many years.

JT Marcinkowski leaves the San Jose Earthquakes to join McCarthy and the Los Angeles Galaxy. The deal is valid through the 2026 season and has an option for 2027, as well.

His strongest games in 2024 came against LAFC. On May 6, the Eartquakes upset LAFC, 2-1. In that game, Marcinkowski racked up six saves and only allowed one goal.

In the rematch two weeks later, San Jose lost 2-1. The former Georgetown University Hoya recorded six more saves but allowed twice as many goals this outing.

The two teams met again on July 8 as the rubber match ended in a draw, 1-1. Marcinkowski tallied four saves in the contest.

The 27-year-old keeper had four clean sheets to his name in 2024. He had just as many in 2023 for the Earthquakes.

"We are excited to add JT to our LA Galaxy goalkeeping corps. He will provide valuable competition and depth at the goalkeeping position as we embark on this upcoming campaign."Will Kuntz, GM of the LA Galaxy

In the game against LAFC on May 28, 2023, Marcinkowski again saved the ball six times. San Jose still lost, 3-2, in that game.

The Alamo, California native joins Landon Donovan as another former member of the San Jose Earthquakes to join the Galaxy.

Marcinkowski gives the Los Angeles Galaxy a veteran backup behind McCarthy. The defending MLS Cup winners also resigned keeper Brady Scott to a one-year deal, too. Novak Micovic is another goalie on the Galaxy's roster, too.

The Los Angeles Galaxy will meet the San Jose Earthquakes for the first time during the 2025 regular season. They play a Wednesday night game in Carson, California ahead of Memorial Day weekend.
