Former Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou may not be out of work for long.

According to BBC, the Australian tactician is being lined up for a shocking head coach role at Major League Soccer side Los Angeles FC.

Postecoglou’s Tottenham exit split the fan base in half, even though it had been a hot topic almost throughout the season.

The 59-year-old oversaw Tottenham’s worst-ever domestic campaign, finishing 17th in the Premier League.

Only the relegated trio of Leicester City, Southampton, and Ipswich Town had a worse record than Postecoglou’s side, who lost 22 games in the Premier League.

They also had the second-worst defensive record in the league, outside the relegated trio, with only Wolverhampton Wanderers (69) conceding more goals than Tottenham (65).

Several factors contributed to the horrendous campaign, but they didn’t matter in the long run.

Postecoglou made up for the dismal season in style, steering Tottenham to their first major trophy in 17 years after beating Manchester United in the Europa League final.

But it wasn’t enough to save his job as he was shown the door just days later.

Tottenham wasted no time naming a successor. They brought in Brentford manager Thomas Frank to fill the void, with the club now looking to rebuild following a season that evoked mixed emotions.

Not everyone was on board with Postecoglou’s dismissal, but the Australian could be back in the dugout sooner rather than later if LAFC can somehow convince him to join.

The American club are preparing for life after Steve Cherundolo, who is expected to step down from his position at the end of the current MLS season, which wraps up in October.

LAFC are on course to qualify for the play-offs, but they’re already weighing their options, and Postecoglou is seen as a strong candidate to take the reins once their post-season fate is sealed.

However, it would be a massive surprise if Postecoglou decides to take on the challenge in America.

After leading Spurs to European glory, he’s within his right to wait for another opportunity to prove himself in one of the top five leagues in Europe.
