Lorenzo Pellegrini will undergo season-ending surgery later today as he concludes an unfortunate season of many lows and very few highs.
The Roma captain is currently in Turku, Finland, writes Corriere dello Sport, where he will complete surgery on his injured right thigh muscle.
Pellegrini left Fiumicino on Thursday on a scheduled flight to Helsinki and then moved west to the university town that is home to the Finnish surgeon’s clinic.
Once the operation on his right thigh is complete, he will be discharged and return to Italy.
He would also like to go to the stadium on Sunday for the match against Milan. But this may not be possible a few hours after the operation. However, his mood is excellent.
He has welcomed with fatalism the umpteenth incident in an unfortunate season and has already looked at the championship calendar with the aim of being available for the first matchday of next season, at the end of August.
This, however, will depend on the evolution of the convalescence. And it will not be so simple because the prognosis in these cases is more than three months.
