Roma are ready to close the deal for Lorenz Assignon after weeks of negotiations.

For over a month, Roma have identified Lorenz Assignon as the right back to make available to Daniele De Rossi.

Despite the early summer attempt for Torino Raoul’s Bellanova – now headed to Atalanta – and some other options which the Giallorossi abandoned after a while, Ghisolfi has long found a verbal agreement with Rennes director Ricky Massara to define the deal for the French fullback.

The problem is liquidity, writes La Gazzetta dello Sport, because the conditions, as reiterated by Rennes, are clear: loan with obligation to buy, €2+9 million for a total sum of €11 million and easy conditions for the obligation become active, i.e. first appearance.

The French club also reached out to Roma regarding facilitated payment methods.

What is needed to close the deal is liquidity, or rather the certainty that salary space will be freed up.

Roma could also decide in the next few hours to force this situation and give the green light to the operation, the final say lies with the owners.

Optimally, however, Roma would sell one of Tammy Abraham, Chris Smalling, Nicola Zalewski or Edoardo Bove to make space for Assignon.
