Enzo Fernandez is set for a busy international break and the Argentine media have praised him for a “tireless” performance against Uruguay.
Fernandez is enjoying the best season of his Chelsea career to date and the 24-year-old is key part of Enzo Maresca’s plans.
The World Cup winner has captained the side on a number of occasions this season in the absence of Reece James, and has been praised for showing leadership.
Fernandez has been linked with a move to Real Madrid, but Chelsea are said to want to keep the midfielder who they spent a £106m on in January 2023.
The Argentine looks fully fit for the first time in a while, which is likely having a major impact on his performances and he’s got five goals and nine assists in 35 appearances in all competitions.
Fernandez was in action for his country as they beat Uruguay 1-0 in a World Cup qualifier in the early hours of Saturday morning UK time.

The midfielder has been a key player for the national side and played the full 90 minutes as Argentina began their defence of the World Cup.
The local media were impressed by Fernandez’s latest performance and he was praised for his contributions in the middle of the park.
“Enzo Fernandez – 7/10,” TYC Sports wrote.
“Like the entire team, he had a great second half. He searched for his goal, but above all, he took control of the game alongside Alexis [Mac Allister] and [Leandro] Paredes. Tireless.”
Fernandez has certainly developed into more of a leader this season and it feels like he often thrives on the international stage.
