Liverpool have confirmed that Harvey Davies has signed a new contract with the club before completing a season-long loan move to Crawley Town for the 2025-26 campaign. The 20-year-old Scouse goalkeeper remains part of the Reds’ long-term plans, but this latest loan is designed to accelerate his development with regular first-team football.
Davies, a product of Liverpool’s Academy system since the Under-9 level, has steadily climbed through the ranks and was first included in a senior matchday squad back in March 2021, for a Champions League clash against RB Leipzig. Since then, he has been named on the bench 18 times for the senior team.
The club’s decision to renew his contract before sending him out on loan again reflects their continued faith in his potential. While details of the new deal were not disclosed, it comes at a time when Arne Slot, fresh off delivering the Premier League title in his debut season, is shaping his squad and youth strategy heading into the 2025-26 campaign.

Last season, Davies gained valuable senior experience with Crewe Alexandra in League Two, where he made 32 appearances across all competitions. That loan spell gave Liverpool the evidence they were seeking — that Davies is capable of handling the demands of competitive senior football.
The step to Crawley Town represents a continuation of that trajectory rather than a sideways move. Crawley, with ambitions of pushing up the table this season, are expected to give Davies ample playing time and exposure to the sort of challenges that will prepare him for a future shot at Liverpool’s first team.
With Alisson Becker still first choice and young contenders like Caoimhin Kelleher and Marcelo Pitaluga in the system, Davies is one of several promising names vying for attention. His pathway may not be immediate, but Liverpool are taking deliberate steps to prepare him for senior football.
The approach is measured. Rather than stalling his progress on the bench, Liverpool are ensuring Davies continues to build experience elsewhere. His familiarity with the club’s playing style and training ethos means he remains integrated even while playing for another side.
“Davies spent the 2023-24 campaign on loan in the same division with Crewe Alexandra, for whom he made 32 appearances across all competitions.” That continuity and willingness to take on new challenges highlight both the player’s ambition and Liverpool’s desire to nurture their own.
By extending his deal and choosing a club like Crawley Town for the next step, Liverpool have shown that development is not an afterthought but a structured plan. It may be some time before Davies features regularly at Anfield, but each loan is a deliberate building block in a career being handled with care.
