Liverpool have rejected a €67.5 million bid from Bayern Munich for winger Luis Diaz, according to The Athletic.
Diaz, who joined Liverpool from Porto in January 2022, has been a vital component of Liverpool’s attack since then, contributing 41 goals and 16 assists in 148 appearances across all competitions.
His pace and directness have played a significant role in Liverpool’s recent success, but with two years remaining on his contract and no extension in sight, the 28-year-old is seeking an exit from Anfield this summer.
However, Liverpool have made it clear that Diaz is not for sale despite strong interest from Bayern, and they would only consider a sale for a fee north of €100 million.
Arne Slot’s side are keen to retain a vast majority of their current attacking options, with only Darwin Nunez facing a move away from Merseyside at the moment.
Bayern have turned their attention to Diaz after the failed pursuit of Nico Williams, who opted to sign a new deal with Athletic Bilbao, snubbing interest from Barcelona as well.
Given Liverpool’s stance with respect to Diaz’s future, Bayern could be set to hit another stumbling block in their search for reinforcements in attack after parting ways with Leroy Sane and losing Jamal Musiala to injury.
Diaz is said to be open to a move to the Bundesliga, attracted by the prospect of playing a leading role under Vincent Kompany, but Bayern will need to significantly up their offer to get their man.
The German champions have been linked with other targets such as Leandro Trossard and Malick Fofana, who could jump up the shortlist should Bayern fail in their quest to sign Diaz.
