Liverpool stuck in their OWN mini-Alexander Isak situation

Liverpool have landed in their own Alexander Isak situation. They're running out of time to get out of it, too.

The Alexander Isak situation rumbles on as Liverpool wait and see what happens at Newcastle United. The Swede is refusing to train or play for the Magpies and released a statement on Tuesday evening after the PFA Awards.

Isak claims there have been broken promises from Newcastle's side and wants to leave the club. He feels that's the best solution for all parties - but there is a problem with that.

Newcastle don't have any other strikers, with Callum Wilson departing at the end of his contract this summer. Their efforts to land a new one have been bleak and just about every potential signing has rejected them.

Those who haven't, like Yoane Wissa, are prohibitively expensive at this stage. Though, that might change as crunch time arrives.

What's certain, though, is that Newcastle do not have anyone to replace Wilson, let alone Isak. And until they find someone halfway suitable, they can't really afford to let their no.9 leave

Even for a British record sum. Liverpool are willing to pay that sum by all accounts but need Newcastle to greenlight it.

And ironically, that's created their own Isak situation.

Jayden Danns at Liverpool

Jayden Danns is currently playing Under 21s football - despite there being plenty of interest in him. Liverpool, however, can’t afford to let him leave.

That’s because as things stand, Danns is actually the second most senior striker at Liverpool after Hugo Ekitiké. Anfield Watch understands that’s created a difficult situation as the Reds can’t really let Danns disappear on loan as they might need him.

The solution to Liverpool’s little Isak situation? Alexander Isak. He’s the centre-forward they want and it’s not expected that they move for anyone else until that’s sorted.
