Liverpool kicked off their Premier League campaign for the new season last night with a last-gasp win over Bournemouth and Ibrahima Konate, Real Madrid’s defensive target, was at the centre of the action.
The player had his moments, but was overall disappointing over the 90 minutes and even got caught out for a goal on the night. His performance, needless to say, has generated a lot of comments on social media from both the Liverpool and Real Madrid fanbases.
The Merseyside club have been planning for his departure in recent days with renewal talks not progressing as planned, and while his transfer to Real Madrid is not imminent, there is word that Los Blancos may have an unofficial agreement with him.
The question that remains, however, is when the move will go through.
As relayed in a recent report from Defensa Central, many in Liverpool already see Konate at Real Madrid, more so after last night’s performance.
Konate’s current contract with Liverpool ends next summer and the player can leave as a free agent to join Real Madrid – a development that would be in line with the hope of the Spanish club’s administration.

Liverpool, however, understandably insist that the player leave immediately if he has no intention to renew, for he has shown no interest in the club’s efforts in recent weeks. After all, they hope to recoup at least some financial compensation from his departure.
Xabi Alonso, for his part, is pushing for an immediate signing as he sees the need for a new defender.
The hurdle that arrives, however, is that the English club demand €50 million which is far beyond what Los Blancos would be willing to pay for him this summer.
The coming weeks will be crucial to see how the saga turns, but as it stands, many at Liverpool have begun to accept the inevitable reality that Konate will be a Real Madrid player.
A move this summer cannot be ruled out, although it will be contingent on one of the two clubs agreeing to compromise.
