Liverpool’s Europa League campaign ended after they suffered a 3-1 aggregate defeat against Atalanta in April.

Everything had looked on course to give manager Jurgen Klopp a glorious send-off after he announced he would leave the club at the end of the season.

Liverpool won the League Cup, defeating Chelsea 1-0 in the final and claiming the first available trophy. They continued to build momentum but began to falter in April.

After crashing out of the FA Cup against Manchester United in March, the wheels began to come off after a 2-2 draw with the Red Devils in the league at Old Trafford.

They subsequently crashed out of the Europa League and have struggled since then.

Liverpool were beaten by Crystal Palace and Everton before stuttering against West Ham United in their last game.

Klopp’s side have fallen five points behind Arsenal and four behind Manchester City in the Premier League with three games to go, and the feeling is that they are out of the running.

However, it is not all doom and gloom. Liverpool have secured a trophy and now Champions League football.

Incoming manager Arne Slot will have a shot at claiming the prestigious title next season.
