In a recent report, journalist Wayne Veysey revealed that Liverpool remain keen on recruiting Newcastle United winger Anthony Gordon. It is understood that the Reds are still showing interest in acquiring the services of the English wide player this summer.
Gordon put in a string of impressive displays for the Magpies in the Premier League last season. The English talent banged in nine goals and picked up seven assists in 42 matches for Newcastle in the previous campaign across various competitions.
The 24-year-old did well to average 2.11 shots per 90 minutes in Premier League football. However, he only kept 28.1% of his attempts on target. He also needs to improve his link-up play in the opponent’s half based on his pass completion rate of 73.3% in the top tier of English football (stats via fbref.com).
Gordon is improving his game with each season. Hence, it is no wonder that the Reds are eager to get a deal done for him in this summer transfer window.

Gordon is a good dribbler with the ball at his feet and can use his pace well to get in behind the opposition defence at every chance he can get. He has got the eye to cut open the opponent’s backline with a killer pass in the final third and can shoot the ball with venom from long range.
The English sensation can chip in by scoring and creating a handful of important goals for his team. He is primarily a left-sided wide player but can also function as a right-winger or as a centre-forward if needed.
Gordon would undoubtedly add more firepower to Liverpool head coach Arne Slot’s frontline. He is good enough to nail down a regular starting spot at Anfield next season. Furthermore, the English talent could be a decent replacement for Luis Diaz if the Colombian wide player parts ways with the Merseyside club this summer.
At 24, Gordon has his peak years ahead of him which makes him a good choice for the Reds to consider in this transfer period. Thus, Slot should focus on going for a player of his skill set this off-season.
