The future of Rodrygo Goes has been widely discussed in recent weeks and his limited minutes in the recently concluded FIFA Club World Cup has only further fuelled such talks.

Rodrygo, who scored 14 goals and 11 assists as season, did not enjoy his best form last season and often found himself scapegoated in the manager’s constant switching of formation.

Xabi Alonso’s arrival has not helped his cause either, especially with the new manager opting for two forwards and an extra midfielder.

Given all the heavy signings they have made this summer, Real Madrid are not completely against selling the young star despite his prominence in recent years, especially given that they already have Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Jr as regular starters. A sale, thus, is likely.

A new suitor

It has been Rodrygo’s dream for a long time now to play in the Premier League and Arsenal have been the club most closely linked with his signing. The Gunners, however, now face local competition as relayed by AS.

Indeed, Liverpool have now reportedly entered the fray and are prepared to make a massive investment to bring home the Real Madrid star.

Arne Slot’s men have been very active on the transfer front this summer and are all but closing in on finalising Rodrygo’s name as their next target.

In fact, they will send a delegation, agent Pini Zahavi, to the Spanish capital in the coming days to initiate contacts over his transfer.

What is Real Madrid’s stance?

Real Madrid demand a fee of over €100 million for Rodrygo’s services and it remains to be seen if Liverpool have the means to achieve that, especially given their recent signing of Florian Wirtz.

It is not surprising that Liverpool sees the Rodrygo deal to be dependent on the same of Luis Diaz who has attracted interest from Barcelona and Bayern Munich.

The outlet further relays that Bayern Munich themselves also have the Real Madrid star as an option and will be willing to fork out the €100 million for him should Diaz not arrive.

Notably, Rodrygo’s transfer will have no part to play in Real Madrid’s potential signing of Ibrahima Konate. Both transactions are separate and will not have any correlation.
