The appointment of Arne Slot at Liverpool has marked the start of a period of change at Anfield, but he still has the Reds competing.

The style of football has changed, but Liverpool’s ability to compete with just about any side in Europe remains intact.

The change from Jurgen Klopp to Arne Slot also saw the start of some interesting positional battles within the Liverpool team.

Cody Gakpo and Luis Diaz have competed admirably for the left-wing position, whilst Ibrahima Konate pretty quickly established his place over Jarell Quansah in the pecking order at centre half.

A new battle could be on the horizon as Curtis Jones and Harvey Elliott look to displace Dominik Szoboszlai and Alexis Mac Allister in the midfield.

The closest fought battle of the season however has been at left-back, between Andrew Robertson and Kostas Tsimikas, and it now looks like neither man may be the eventual winner.
