Roberto Firmino is set to leave the Anfield club at the end of the season, and a quality and capable replacement is needed.

Barcola has registered seven goals and four assists in 23 games across all competitions this term.

It is the 20-year-old’s breakthrough season after playing 13 games last term.

Barcola weighed in with two assists in his debut campaign with the French club.

He has shown his huge potential this term and plenty of clubs are keeping tabs on him.

The Lyon academy graduate has played across the forward line, and his versatility has impressed Liverpool.

Their manager Jurgen Klopp loves forwards capable of playing in different roles, and Barcola would be perfect for his side.

A move to Liverpool could appeal to the youngster.

However, he may have concerns over his chances of playing regularly.

Barcola needs to keep developing, and being on the pitch is his only chance to do so.

Mohamed Salah, Darwin Nunez, Diogo Jota and Cody Gakpo are all expected to remain ahead of any forward in the pecking order.

As a result, the France under-21 international could have reservations about joining Liverpool.

Remaining at Lyon will help sustain his growth, and there are other clubs capable of giving him regular chances.
