Liverpool winger Federico Chiesa could return to Serie A sooner than expected after failing to secure regular first-team football at Anfield. According to Calciomercato, Inter, Milan, and Roma would be willing to offer the ex-Juventus forward an escape route in the upcoming transfer window.
Chiesa joined the Reds this summer for £10 million plus £2.5m in add-ons after being deemed surplus to requirements by new Juventus manager Thiago Motta. However, the 27-year-old carried a long-term injury to England and was not available for selection in the opening two months.
Despite regaining full fitness, Chiesa has only made three competitive appearances for Liverpool this season. Therefore, an early Serie A return could be on the cards. There’s no shortage of suitors in his homeland, with both Milan clubs still harboring interest in his services.
With Rafael Leao’s future at San Siro in doubt, Milan are in the market for a new winger. They were interested in Chiesa last summer but couldn’t find common ground with Juventus. Meanwhile, Inter could use additional depth on the wings. But they’re behind their city rivals and Roma in this race.
The Giallorossi tried to lure Chiesa to the Stadio Olimpico in the summer before deciding to bet on Matias Soule. It proved a wrong choice as the Argentine youngster stuttered in his early career in Rome. As for Milan, they’ve identified Tottenam’s Dejan Kulusevski as a potential target. However, Chiesa would be a more affordable solution.
