Liverpool midfielder Leighton Clarkson joins Aberdeen permanently

Liverpool have confirmed Leighton Clarkson’s permanent transfer to Aberdeen on Thursday.

The 21-year-old midfielder will stay in Scotland after signing a four-year deal for an undisclosed fee.

He was a staple name for Aberdeen last season, making 38 appearances and recording six goals and nine assists.

“There is no doubt Leighton had a positive impact during his time with us last season and its hugely encouraging that he has now chosen this club as his home, and the best place for his continued development,” said Dons boss Barry Robson.

Clarkson joined Liverpool at six and rose through the academy but only made three senior appearances for the Reds, including in the Champions League against FC Midtjylland in 2020.
