As Liverpool navigates the international break, manager Arne Slot faces a mix of fortunes on the injury front. Here’s the latest on key players including Ryan Gravenberch and Trent Alexander-Arnold, crucial as the Reds aim to secure the league title.
Ryan Gravenberch, the vibrant Dutch midfielder, has given Liverpool and their fans a scare. After being substituted in the Carabao Cup final against Newcastle—a match Liverpool narrowly lost—Gravenberch joined the Netherlands squad. Unfortunately, he had to withdraw ahead of their Nations League match against Spain, returning to Liverpool for further medical assessment.
The national team released a statement expressing concern but hoped for a swift recovery: “Ryan Gravenberch has left the Oranje’s training camp this evening. The midfielder is still suffering from an injury sustained over the weekend that prevents him from playing in the matches against Spain. Take care, Ryan!”
With a critical Merseyside derby looming, Liverpool fans and Slot will be anxiously awaiting updates, with a potential return against Everton on April 2.
In another blow to Liverpool’s defence, Trent Alexander-Arnold missed the clash against Newcastle due to an ankle injury sustained in the PSG game. His absence was notably felt as Jarell Quansah stepped in. Slot remains hopeful but cautious about Alexander-Arnold’s return timeline, stating, “So, Trent is indeed not available. He will not be there at the final. But he is still to be assessed for how long it’s going to take but we do expect him back in the end of the season.”

This uncertainty leaves Liverpool’s right-back position in a precarious state, especially with Conor Bradley also sidelined.
Bradley, another option at right-back, remains out following a hamstring injury incurred in a Premier League match against Aston Villa. With no fixed return date and a recent omission from the Northern Ireland squad, his absence extends Liverpool’s defensive dilemmas.

Joe Gomez and young midfielder Tyler Morton are also on the injury list, with Gomez possibly out until the very end of the season and Morton recovering from a shoulder operation with an uncertain return date.
On a brighter note, Harvey Elliott appears to have quickly overcome a minor knock, participating fully in training with the England Under-21 squad. His swift recovery is a positive sign, with Slot likely counting on his availability for the upcoming match against Everton.

As Liverpool aims to conclude their season triumphantly, the fitness of key players like Ryan Gravenberch and Trent Alexander-Arnold will be pivotal. While injuries pose challenges, the depth of the squad and the management’s strategies will be crucial in navigating this period. Fans will be hoping for positive news in the coming weeks, particularly with critical fixtures on the horizon.
