In a recent report, The Daily Mail claimed that Liverpool have tabled an offer for Salford City forward Will Wright this summer. However, it is understood that the Reds are facing stiff competition from Manchester City in pursuit of the English striker this off-season.
Wright has come through the youth ranks of Salford City and deserves a ton of credit for breaking into their first team recently. The 17-year-old has played in four senior matches for the League Two outfit thus far but is still waiting to score his first goal.
The talented teenager is amongst the best young forwards in English football. Therefore, it is no wonder that Liverpool are showing interest in bringing him to Merseyside in this summer transfer window.
The Reds have made a habit of developing youth talent and turning them into future stars as evidenced by the recent rise of players such as Ben Doak and Harvey Elliott. Thus, it makes sense for the Reds to recruit Wright as he could prove to be a success story at Anfield in the long run.

Wright can find some space for himself to get a few strikes in at goal. He can engineer the odd chance for others around him and is a good dribbler with the ball in the final third.
Standing at 1.90m, Wright can use his robust frame to dominate the opposition defenders in the air. However, he is still quite raw and would need time to prove his worth at the highest level.
Still, there is no doubt that Wright would be a great addition to Liverpool‘s academy this summer. He has what it takes to be a future starter at the Merseyside club and could help them compete for some major honours over the next decade.
At 17, Wright is undoubtedly a prospect to watch out for in the future. Therefore, the Reds would be wise to engineer a move to bring him to Anfield before the end of this transfer window. However, he would need time before he is ready for regular Premier League football.
